Feels like the very first time.

AHAH!!! GOTCHA,
GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER AND BACK ON THE PAGE.

Tomorrow I go to take some tests that will be, in the long run very important for me. You know, those stupid 3 hours you make the little dot on the multiple answers to prove you have a brain in your head and not oatmeal.

It feels like high school again. Like I really need to repeat that. Nope! Nada! Not even for a Scooby snack. I don't have anything against high school, I did well there. I was a cheerleader, member of the chess and Latin clubs, on the track and tumbling teams, and an 'A' student.

I still play chess. I can still read Latin, I have added French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Hebrew and Russian to that. Note I said "read" that is because I am 90% deaf and my pronunciation sucks. I still study a lot, because you just can't guess when you are writing, you have to have some idea what you're writing about. Just cause I write fiction, does not mean I can get the facts wrong. Besides I just love little unknown tidbits.

So I have to go in the morning, sit in a room with people a third my age and take the test. Good thing I usually do well on tests. Oh and by the way, it's raining out, I can't sleep and have a sinus headache. So here I sit, playing on my computer. Why? Cause I am old enough to do whatever the f-- I want to, that's why. Within reason of course.

It all comes down to my going back to school. My day job up and went a couple of months ago (our plant closed), and I joined the huge ranks of unemployed. Nothing I have done before is suitable for me to do now. I have been extremely lucky. Long before the economy started to head south at break neck speed, I had started to work on web sites. It was something I wanted to do when I retired. Never thought I would be looking that part of my life in the face so soon.

I have a super investigative personality, I see spatial oddities a lot of people don't. I love a challenge, I am creative (I paint, take photographs, and write). I have decided to get my degree in web development. All my talents will be useful to get me into the field. I just need to get the credentials to back me. What that means is a super portfolio.

I have been working on that. You can get a glimpse of it at www.mhmoore-webdesign.com It's not finished. I have found I really like web language, html, xhtml, the css. I enjoy them. It keeps me busy and it's intriguing. Especially when I get it right and I find a programmer that get's it wrong. Just a bit proud of myself there. Coding web pages, or entire sites is damn hard. Of course I could speed all that up and use Wordpress, like I do here. Let's face it, hand coding takes time. For that site though, I wanted to start at the bottom and work my way up. Later I may use Dreamweaver, or Frontpage, I have both the programs, but for now, I just think I'll walk, before I start to run.
